Blue Mountains Eco Tour

Blue Mountains Eco Adventure & Hike Tour

Tours operate September – May | We are closed during the quiet season June-August for a break and to explore the world!

Barefoot Downunder’s Blue Mountains Eco Adventure & Hike Tour from Sydney takes you into the heart of the  World Heritage listed Blue Mountains for a big day of hiking and exploring! Escape the city and see kangaroos in the wild, hike into a Jurassic rainforest and pass epic lookouts with amazing views seeing waterfalls, including Empress Falls and Wentworth Falls. Spot native wildlife and hear the fun interesting facts of the local area from your passionate guide, take a selfie with the ‘Three Sisters’ and snap a photo of the Katoomba Street Art Walk and take in views at one of the ultimate lookouts of the Blue Mountains!

Our adventure tours from Sydney are led by our fun, experienced and passionate Aussie guides (and the owner too!) who all love to share their local knowledge as well as having a laugh and telling a few jokes along the way. Our groups are smaller so we can show you places off-the-beaten-track where not many tours visit making it a more personalised day out for our guests.

If you are looking for a true Australian experience exploring the Blue Mountains and love the outdoors and hiking, then this adventure tour is for you!

The nitty-gritty:

Our Blue Mountains Day Tour picks up from 4 locations across Sydney before making the journey up to the mountains, forget the crowded zoo’s as we’ll show you kangaroos in the wild! Get ready for an epic 3-hour guided return hike down in Wentworth Falls and see many spectacular waterfalls, take in amazing views of the Jamison Valley, see the dramatic cliffs and scenery and spot native wildlife and birds. Learn the interesting and fun facts of the local area from your passionate Aussie guide!

The hike back up includes a couple of sections with a set of vertical stairs and steep steps so we ask everyone to have at least a medium level of fitness. (The effort is worth it!) During the warmer months bring your swimmers to cool off under one of the waterfalls if you like.

After the big hike we take you to a small local village town in the Blue Mountains called Leura, where you can relax for lunch. We like to support the local community and there are plenty of great restaurants or cafe’s for you to choose from. They offer everything from a kangaroo burger, to fish and chips, and vegetarian options at the restaurants or you can bring your own picnic lunch to enjoy at the nearby park. Your choice!

Snap a selfie with the famous Three Sisters rock formation and hear the dreamtime stories from your guide. Then keep your camera handy as we do a quick stop at the Katoomba Street Art Walk where you can see the local artists murals and graffiti.

Saving the best for last, we take you out to our final lookout spot where you take in the Ultimate Views of the Blue Mountains up at #lincolnsrock! After a jam packed day of fun and adventure, jump back in the bus to relax as we pump some great tunes for the bus ride back to Sydney. (Bring a change of clothes or shirt as you will sweat!)

Best‡ tour of the Blue Mountains – Fantastic Day out! – TripAdvisor

I have done this tour with a number of agencies due to the nature of my work and I must say this was the best tour of the Blue Mountains I have ever done!!! Adam and Paul did such a fantastic job of looking after our group, were so professional, organised and both had so much knowledge on not only the area, but on Australian Culture and History. We were entertained from the moment we got on the bus to the moment we were dropped off. The hike that we did was absolutely beautiful! The highlight of the groups trip to Australia was made possible by Barefoot Downunder. Thank you so much for everything you do and we are so looking forward to doing this trip again! Really lovely to be away from the touristy traps and see the real Blue Mountains!

“Amazing all round” – TripAdvisor

Best blue mountains tour out there!! We were taken to places only private tours normally go, we got to see numerous waterfalls and even walk under some and the opportunity to jump in if brave enough in the cold!! Would highly recommend this tour, I learnt so much about the national park and was taken to all the best lookout spots away from the hoards of tourists. Adam is excellent! Of course the free drink at the end was an added bonus. Also a good amount of walking, if you are up for it and want to get the most out of a “hike” in the blue mountains! Overall great day out and amazing tour guide.

Best Blue Mountains day trip ever!! – TripAdvisor

Ok – I had done a lot of research on finding the best possible operator for a day at the Blue Mountains and I think the hours I spent searching paid off. Unlike all the other operators from Sydney, Barefoot Downunder includes walking and hiking and not just going around in a van or visiting the zoo. We were lucky enough to spot kangaroos out in the nature, walked an amazing trail (albeit a little challenging at some point), photographed the Three Sisters from a quiet and hidden point of view, explored the valley! I mean what else is there to do in one day? Nothing more! Thanks for buying that beer at the end! Dedinitely needed!
